Hi, I'm Ross.
I completed my medical degree at the University of Western Australia, then commenced orthopaedic specialist training in Perth with a stint in Melbourne. Following that, I completed subspecialty training at the renowned Fortius Clinic in London and gained further experience with outstanding surgeons in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
I returned to Perth, where I’ve continued my public and private orthopaedic practice, supporting elite athletes and weekend warriors, people suffering from arthritis, people with injuries and pain on their recovery journeys. I’m committed to advancing patient care by training upcoming surgeons and undertaking cutting-edge research to transfer into better treatment options.
Outside work, I love spending time with my wife and our 3 young children. I’m still a sports fan, love keeping fit and enjoy an active lifestyle, surfing, running and spending time with friends and family.

Fellowship training in the surgical management of elite athletes
After completing my surgical residency I chose to pursue Orthopaedics, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedics) and Australian Orthopaedic Association. I pursued subspecialty training in Knee and Sports Surgery, and was awarded the:
Coveted fellowship position in complex knee surgery at the Fortius Clinic (London) working with internationally renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr Andy Williams
Prestigious Calvert Shoulder Fellowship training under Dr Andrew Wallace.
These roles developed my expertise in the surgical management of elite athletes, including those from:
English Premier League
Premiership Rugby
The Royal Ballet (UK)
Australian Football League (AFL), Super Rugby, Super Netball, National Rugby League, Australian Cricket and Soccer teams and International and national athletes.
These days, I regularly treat international, national and state representatives across several sporting disciplines.

Approach to patient care
Approach to patient care
When your body feels strong, you move with confidence and perform well. When you’ve experienced an injury or deterioration that confidence can be shattered. An unstable or painful joint makes you nervous about moving – and that can make you anxious about your future.
Good care can’t be rushed. It needs to be personalised to your unique situation, taking into account your injury, your health, your lifestyle, the demands of your sport, your stage of life and your goals for the future.
I take the time in consultations to understand your personal experience. My extensive clinical and research experience means I can offer a wider range of treatments to suit your needs.
I examine you thoroughly
I listen carefully as you describe the injury, condition or deterioration impact and your treatment goals
I outline the range of possible treatments and discuss the pros and cons of each one
I have a conservative approach, reserving surgery for when it is clinically indicated and will improve your long term function
I support your rehabilitation with detailed protocols to enhance your strength and mobility
If you have a complex knee injury or degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis and are likely to need a long recovery, then we’ll probably see quite a bit of each other over the coming months. I place a strong emphasis on return to function. My team and I get quite invested in your recovery and feel a great sense of satisfaction when we see patients back on the pitch doing what they love again.
Research and training
Research and training
I’m always striving to improve techniques and treatment options.. I’m a curious thinker who’s always looking for better ways of supporting different groups of patients.
I emphasise research because it drives improvements in patient care. It challenges me to constantly improve my practice to deliver more treatment options and improve outcomes.
Actively involved in research with a focus on anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, multi-ligament knee reconstruction, robotic knee replacement, knee preservation and meniscal and cartilage injury
Author of numerous publications in medical journals
Regularly invited to present findings at national and international conferences
